Land of Love (Reprise)

Dear Choir,

Something that lives rent free in my brain is Michael Fassbender in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus whispering to himself “Big things have small beginnings”.

In that movie he unleashes a bio-engineered weapon upon their exploratory crew thereby killing everyone aboard and launching a chain of events that lead to several sequels of deep-space horror-thriller worthy of the name “Ridley Scott”…

While the situation isn’t relevant to what I’m trying to communicate, the sentiment is. One small decision can lead to a cascade of events that will find you sailing to new land. And perhaps I’m sailing to new land or will soon arrive at old and it will feel new, I’m not really sure.

I want to thank you, reader, for your interest in my small adventure. Work moves ever forward as Producer Carter and I work and re-work each consecutive song on the album. We unearth new treasures, find old treasures we’d lost in the sand, all within my own music and its fascinating.

I wanted to create a little teaser of this song, Land of Love. I worked on, and released it amidst a locked-down Southern California and launched it out into the world knowing it didn’t quite fit where I saw Reverend Doctor at the time. This version is a little closer to home, but even for this teaser, I took and manipulated the sound to obscure the final product. There are maybe more familiar versions in other snippets from the album, but we are close.
